African Championship '99
The 1999 African mens basketball championship took place in Luanda, Angola. Angola won the African
championship after they defeated Nigeria in the final 79-72. In the 3rd place game Egypt beat surprising
Mali 78-63 to capture the bronze medal. Angola will represent Africa in the Olympic games in Sydney
2000. The South African team had a disasterous tournament
in which they placed last out of 12 teams.
